Job Description:

Pre-Production & Technical Coordination

  • Coordinate between Industrial Design and Engineering to ensure shop drawings are accurate, feasible, and production-ready.
  • Review and validate technical drawings for completeness, manufacturability, and alignment with project scope.
  • Ensure all required approvals (design, engineering, client if required) are obtained prior to job release.
  • Identify and proactively resolve technical conflicts before manufacturing begins.
  • Confirm materials, finishes, hardware, electrical components, and specifications are fully defined.
  • Approve production drawings and release work sheets to relevant departments.
  • Match work sheets to purchase orders and ensure all project requirements are aligned.

ERP & Production Release Management

  • Enter and release approved jobs into the ERP system with complete accuracy.
  • Verify BOMs, routing, timelines, and departmental allocations.
  • Ensure documentation is properly attached, traceable, and revision-controlled within the ERP.
  • Coordinate job release timing based on production capacity and scheduling priorities.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating production schedules, timelines, and workflow meetings.

Production Scheduling & Workflow Oversight

  • Create and manage detailed production schedules per job and per department.
  • Understand fabrication, machining, finishing, assembly, electrical, QA, packaging, and shipping timelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of leadership experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical systems, wiring, controls, and fabrication
  • Strong understanding of tools, machinery, and materials used in manufacturing
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical/shop drawings

Requirements:

  • Prior experience using 3D CAD tools such as; SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production setting.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team to design custom solutions.

Job Description:

Media Graph Inc. is seeking a versatile and hands-on Industrial Designer & Production Technician to join our dynamic team. This hybrid role is ideal for a technically minded designer who enjoys bringing concepts to life and participating in every stage of the manufacturing process—from design to fabrication. You'll be responsible for developing technical drawings and 3D renderings, as well as assisting in the physical assembly and production of lighting products.

Location: Media Graph offices located at 300 Montée de Liesse, Montréal, Québec, Canada H4t 1N9.

Objectives of this role:

  • Create detailed shop drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks and other CAD tools.
  • Manage technical project files, specifications, samples, and mock-ups.
  • Produce realistic 3D renderings for new products, marketing visuals, and trade show displays.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop custom lighting solutions.
  • Maintain organized design documentation and support project planning workflows.

Production & Assembly Tasks:

  • Programming CNC machining & metal laser cutting.
  • Assemble lighting components according to drawings and specifications.
  • Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support welding, finishing, and prototyping as needed.
  • Build long-term relationships with customers by using ‘value-added’ selling techniques.
  • Assist in organizing material handling and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production setting.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Skilled in 2D graphic tools: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly, sub-assembly, and weldments.
  • Comfortable interpreting and working with technical drawings.
  • Experience with hands-on fabrication and prototyping.
  • Able to lift heavy materials and operate a forklift or pallet jack (certification is an asset).
  • Fluent in French or English (verbal and written); bilingual is an asset.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to shifting priorities.
  • Collaborative team player who can also work independently.
